DIGITAL FILE WORK SHEET

File specification for digital projection

RGB jpeg files having a resolution of 200ppi.

Landscape files long side should be 1024 pixels maximum

Portrait files long side should be 768 pixels maximum

The file size must be between 100Kb and 300Kb.

Presentation and titling

Files must be burnt to a standard CD-r enabling multiple burning. Do not use DVD disks.

The entrants name and class should only appear on the front of the CD. Please do not use hard tipped pens such as ball points, fine marker pens are recommended such as the Pilot DVD/CD marker pen. Do not use small labels on the front of the CD as these can come off and jam a CD reader. If a label is used it must be a full faced label with either a small central hole or the larger central hole.

It is recommended that you use one CD for all the merit competitions and place each entry in a separate folder clearly labeled 'Merit One' 'Merit Two' etc.

Images will be projected as presented so it is the entrants responsibility to ensure that images within each folder are correctly orientated.

Images within a folder must be titled even if it's 'No title' typed in. If you are including a shot number in the title such as 'Model No 01' please use that configuration, do not use #.

The entrants name must not appear anywhere within the folder.

Sizing a file for burning

This is based on Photoshop CS2 but the principles should hold good for other programmes

Open 'Image size' (Alt + Con + I) in the image palette

Step one : Ensure the 'Constrain Proportions' box is checked.

Step two : you are probably reducing the total file size so check the 'Resample Image' box and select 'Bicubic Sharper' in the drop down menu.

Step three : In the 'Resolution' box change the figure to 200 ppi.

Step Four : In the Pixel dimension box change the width to 1024 pixels maximum for Landscape files; for Portrait files change the height to 768 pixels maximum
