Infra-Red conversions

To convert a RGB image into a mock Ektachrome colour IR image.

Open your image and correct colour balance etc.

Image>Adjustments>Channel mixer

Do not check the monochrome box.

Adjust each output channel, the following values are starting points and will give a good result with a well exposed original.

Red : R -100 G +200 B 0

Green : R 0 G 0 B +100

Blue : R +100 G 0 B 0

You should now have an image with the charatistic yellow sky and mauve folige.

To covert to a monochrome IR in the channel mixer check the monochrome box and use the following as starting values.

R -76 G +200 B -50

You should now have an image with the charatistic grey foliage and near black skys. To make the result even more like a classic film IR image add some mono film grain.

Yoy can also get some interesting results with bits of foliage etc.
